What is the Eight Parishes CIC?

In 2009, consent for Swinford Wind Farm was granted by the Secretary of State. Following a year long construction process, with 50% of the construction spend going to UK companies, the wind farm became operational in November 20112. The site is operated by Vattenfall UK.

Vattenfall UK are committed to providing a Community Fund to benefit the eight parishes surrounding Swinford Wind Farm. The Fund is an index-linked annual grant of £44,000.00 and will be provided for the 25 year life of the project.

The Eight Parishes Community Interest Company (CIC) was incorporated in November 2012 and administers the annual grant through the Parish Council or Parish Meeting for each parish. A representative for each Parish Council or Parish Meeting is appointed to the Eight Parishes CIC.
